Chicago Loop Alliance will host the first dusk ‘til dawn cultural event of its kind in the United States. Presented by the Chicago Loop Alliance, “Looptopia” will showcase the incomparable artistic, musical and cultural offerings of Chicago’s famed Loop neighborhood. The event is inspired by “White Night” events held in international locales such as Paris, Rome and Madrid.

Programming will include live musical and theatrical performances, unique shopping and dining opportunities, indoor programs, outdoor exhibitions, architectural tours, artistic installations, engaging video projections and mesmerizing illumination.

“The Chicago Loop has become an urban showcase for some of Chicago’s most dynamic features. No other area can claim its diverse educational campuses, parks, renowned retailers, first-class residences and world-class cultural institutions. The Loop has clearly become a 24/7 destination,” said Mayor Richard M. Daley. “Looptopia will celebrate all that The Loop has to offer as it highlights the unique mixture of culture, commerce and community that attracts Chicagoans and travelers from around the world.”

A Sensory Playground

Looptopia will literally transform the entire Loop into a sensory playground with cutting-edge lighting and design elements that will immerse the Looptopia visitor in amazing sights and sounds. Many of Chicago’s most renowned institutions will host special all-night programs, exhibitions and events. Programming will initially extend from Wacker Drive to Congress Parkway and from Dearborn to Lake Michigan. Participants already committed to participate in Looptopia include: Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Opera Theatre, Chicago Cultural Center, Broadway In Chicago, Silk Road Theater Project, the Chicago Architecture Foundation and Macy’s. As a lead-in to Looptopia activities, Columbia College will host its Manifest Urban Arts Festival earlier that day. The dusk ‘til dawn spectacular will culminate with a sunrise celebration in Millennium Park featuring music, yoga and an enormous breakfast buffet.
