EVIL DEAD – The Musical Nov 2 – 11

Moraine Valley hosts

‘Evil Dead: The Musical’

“Camp” isn’t what it seems to be in “Evil Dead: The Musical,” playing in the Dorothy Menker Theater at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Nov 2 to 11.

The musical is an Academic Theater production performed by Moraine Valley students, alumni and returning cast members. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday performances are at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors and $10 for students with ID Please note this production is for mature audiences.

Follow five college students who travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force. Described as more of a comedy and farce than horror, the musical includes hilariously campy songs and depicts how “camp” takes on a whole new meaning.

Directed by Tommy Hensel, Fine and Performing Arts managing director, cast members include Moraine Valley students Ashlyn Wiebe, of Orland Park, as Cheryl; Samm Hilger, of Burbank, as Shelly; Joe Kata, of Crestwood, as Ed; John Kladis, of Palos Hills, as Scott; and Rose Stovicek, of LaGrange, as Fake Shemp.

Moraine Valley alumni performers include R.J. Cecott, of Hickory Hills, as Ash; and Sarah Triolo, of Minooka, as Linda. Cast members who performed in the same show at Moraine Valley nine years ago are Nikki Soriano, of Chicago, as Annie; and Jim LaPietra, of Berwyn, as Jake.

The performance is based on the book and lyrics by George Reinblatt, music by Frank Cipolla, Christopher Bond, Melissa Morris and George Reinblatt, music supervision by Cipolla, additional lyrics by Christopher Bond and additional music by Rob Daleman.

Private Night at Six Flags Sept 8th

Out In The Park at Six Flags Great America

Returns in 2018 for Year 7!

A Private Night in the Park to Celebrate Diversity

Presented by Toyota & BestGayChicago.com

That Will Help Benefit Lakeside pride Music Ensemble

Saturday, September 8th, 2018 from 7:30PM to 12AM

Out In The Park is an annual private diversity event featuring unlimited riding of ALL Six Flags Great America’s amazing THRILL rides (with much shorter than usual lines! The park is only 35% full!) with a portion of all ticket sales each year helping to benefit various non-profits.

For 2018, it will benefit LAKESIDE PRIDE MUSIC ENSEMBLE! “One of the best elements of this event is that it is closed to the general public and this year our event piggy-backs a daytime corporate buyout so our attendees will be entering an EMPTY PARK!” explains Michael Snell, co-owner of BestGayChicago.com. “The LGBTQ community, their family, friends and supporters can enjoy the park with shorter lines and without homophobic or bigotry from anyone. It’s like a Fall Pride Celebration!”

It’s important to us that everyone—no matter who you are, how you identify, or where you’re from—feel comfortable and confident. Our message is simple: You are welcome here.

Singer, songwriter, producer and DJ ADAM JOSEPH will be playing his music in JB’s bar for 2 hours at the event. Then he play again from 1am – 3am at CHARLIE’S, the Official After Party in Boystown. (Charlies will also be offering a limited number of bus seats to and from the park – details soon!

“We are honored that some of our peers including GRAB Magazine, ChicagoPride.com and QUEST Magazine in Wisconsin also help us by donating advertising space for this event! It’s truly a community event where everyone comes together for the greater good!” says Derrick Sorles.

Advance $43 tickets can be purchased NOW HERE

Attendees get FREE parking for this special event!

September 1st the price goes up to $48.

$53 at the gate, IF AVAILABLE.

This event is capped at only 5,000 tickets, to ensure lines stay short for the rides.

111 Cool Places in Chicago

When ever I travel anywhere,  I see a  few of the big tourist  things  but then  I ask  around, talk to locals,  about  what they like  to do.  So I love books like this!

111 Places in Chicago That You Must Not Miss (111 Places in …. That You Must Not Miss)

    • The ultimate insider’s guide to Chicago, fully illustrated with 111 full-page color photographs!

Features interesting and unusual places not found in traditional travel guides!

This book is great  for locals and tourists!

Chicago. City of the Big Shoulders. What started off as a small fur-trading settlement is today a bustling metropolis. Once considered the “hog butcher of the world, stacker of wheat, player with railroads and the nation’s freight handler”, Chicago’s colorful past remains hidden in the nooks and crannies of this wonderful windy city.

Adventures await, from the glamorous to the gritty. Sip dirty martinis in an elegant, underground, 1920’s bank vault. Paddle a kayak down the infamous Bubbly Creek of Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle. While away an afternoon in a salt cave, or smoke a classic cigar in the oldest family-run tobacco shop in the U.S. Snorkel a 32-acre, limestone sheet shoal, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the Midwest. Dine outdoors in a 23rd floor Beaux-Arts cupola overlooking the Chicago River.

Whether you’re an out-of-towner or a diehard Chicago dweller who thinks you’ve seen it all, these 111 hidden places are waiting for you to discover them.
